Jesus said that you cannot serve two masters: you cannot serve both God and mammon. American history has developed from the conflict between these two opposites: the spiritual and the material, God and mammon. This book describes how early America served God as it struggled against the odds to build a new civilization in a wilderness three thousand miles across the ocean. With no real government to speak of, they, of necessity, relied on Christian virtues and precepts to give them the cohesion, and the courage, to succeed. But the rebellion in 1775 of a small group of discontented mammonists began America’s 250 year journey to becoming today’s spiritually debased, overwhelmingly materialist society in which lies and liars predominate and government, not God, is worshipped: a society in which the demonic power of electricity has created a synthetic reality that has sapped us of our strength, our spirit, and our very souls. It ends by describing how the monstrous and overwhelmingly oppressive government necessarily created by mammon will, at some point, be destroyed by the foretold return of Jesus and the end of electric/synthetic culture.
