The Underground Railroad played a significant role in the abolition of slavery in the United States, and is a testament to the bravery and resilience of those who risked their lives to help others escape from bondage. Many prominent figures in American history, including Harriet Tubman, Frederick Douglass, and Levi Coffin, were involved in the Underground Railroad. Ohio was a crucial state in the Underground Railroad network, serving as a gateway from the slave states in the South to the freedom of Canada. There were numerous Underground Railroad stations in Ohio, particularly in cities such as Cincinnati, Cleveland, and Toledo.
