About this item

Cuba: Intra-history. An Unremitting Struggle.

These are the memoirs of Rafael Diaz-Balart (1926-2005), the Cuban politician and lawyer who was the Majority Leader and Majority Caucus Chairman in the House of Representatives of Cuba from 1954 to 1958. In January 1959, in New York City, he founded the first organization to fight the Castro regime, “The White Rose”. In 1965 he received his Doctorate of Law from the Central University of Madrid, Spain, and later obtained degrees in Comparative Law from the Universities of Liege, Belgium, Coimbra, Portugal, and Strasbourg, France. His professional activities as a legal and financial advisor led him to travel the world, but his love for Cuba and his dream of freedom for Cubans constituted the constant compass of his life.
