On a quiet night in Jerusalem, a rooster watches the courtyard of the high priest's house from his perch above the gate. Below him, a small fire burns in the darkness. Servants whisper, guards stand watch, and a frightened man sits near the flames trying not to be noticed. The rooster does not understand everything happening that night. But he sees the worry in the man's eyes. He hears the questions being asked. And when the first light of morning begins to rise, the rooster does what he has always done. He crows. In that moment, a man named Peter remembers the words Jesus had spoken; and his heart is changed forever. Told through the eyes of a simple rooster, The Rooster in the Courtyard is a moving story of fear, regret, forgiveness, and the hope that rises with every new morning for ages 9-12.
