Munchie the Mantis: and the Fox Family Quest

The story follows Munchie , a kind-hearted young mantis who joins the fox siblings— Feather, Goober, and Gampa —on a dangerous quest to save their homeland from an impending earthquake. Their world is destabilizing because three ancient Drift-powered artifacts— the Manila Glass Shard, the Mesquite Stone, and the Redwood Spine —have been separated, disrupting the natural balance beneath the canyon. During the journey, Munchie receives mysterious visions from a glowing ember-fox figure that warns: “Find the thief before the earth breaks.” The group eventually discovers that the “thief” is not a villain but Flint , an older fox whose younger brother Kindle is gravely ill. Flint stole the Redwood Spine in desperation, hoping its power could save Kindle. Once Munchie explains that the artifacts must be reunited—and that misusing a single artifact could make the quakes worse—Flint agrees to help. Together, the foxes and Munchie recover the artifacts and return them to the ancient vault. When they place them on their pedestals, a gigantic pulse of stabilizing Drift-energy ripples through the canyon, knitting the broken earth back together and preventing disaster. With the land saved, the family reunites joyfully aboveground. Children swarm their parents; loved ones embrace; and the fox siblings proudly recount their adventure. Everyone recognizes Munchie’s courage and leadership, telling him he is now part of their family. Munchie, who has never belonged to a family this big, is deeply moved.
