In a small town where shape shifters, witches, and humans live in harmony, there exists an extraordinary group of women charged with protecting a power field created by the Norse Gods. Seithr, the essence of all magic, is shielded by the elemental Guardians who were created centuries ago and charged with this sacred task. Each woman holds the control over an element until they pass their responsibilities and powers to a chosen female in the next generation. As the leader of the present generation of Guardians, Reagan knows the world is in jeopardy; with the death of the fire Guardian there are only four out of the five elements embodied so they do not have the strength to keep the power field safe. Before Reagan can overcome the shock of the murders and begin to find a new Guardian, she is attacked by a creature that she has never seen. She only escapes with her life by the timely intervention of Nathan Danner, a taciturn shape shifter who has been the object of her fantasies for years. Reagan is forced to team up with Nathan to find and stop the one who killed their friends before she becomes the next victim. Nathan and Reagan have to learn accept each other’s secrets and trust one another if they are going to stopped the killer before he kills Reagan next. When they learn the creature responsible for the death is a golem, the situation becomes even graver, no one has seen a golem in centuries and they are almost impossible to kill. It will take the skill and strength of all the Guardians and their loved ones together to destroy the creature and keep the townspeople and themselves safe.
