The Goodness of God

In Psalms 23, perhaps the most well-known and beloved of the 150 Psalms in the Bible concludes by saying: "Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the House of the Lord forever." What a wonderful blessing God has extended to us when our lives eventually end. Each of us during the course of our lives have unfortunately suffered some painful losses, (my son Michael tragically lost his life fighting with the United States Army in the Iraq War in 2007) yet I have still been a blessed recipient of the goodness of God even despite what I have personally lost. According to Lamentations 3:22-23, God's goodness is reflected to us by Him continually extending His great faithfulness to us each new day with "compassions that never fail." The very essence of God's nature and character is simply that He is good and can only perform and be that which is good. All my life God has been faithful to me, especially in difficult and trying times, so for the rest of my life I will commit myself to declaring the goodness of God wherever i go...
