This is a textbook for one semester course in Mittal Institute of Technology & Science. It can be read by anyone, but it is recommended that it should be read in the supervision of an expert in the field. The author is a computer scientist and will not be responsible for misconceptions. The subject is life sciences. Doctors study medical science, the branch of knowledge about human bodies. The common public depends on doctors for the health of their bodies. A better understanding between the doctors and common public can result in better health outcomes. This is no longer an option but a necessity because of newer expectations from medical science. Advances in technology and medical science have increased the workload on doctors. A specialization requires tremendous effort on the part of doctors to meet the expectations of common public. Computer scientists work in multiple disciplines. They must train computers to work in coordination with Medical Scientists. This is complementary work. This collaboration is essential in modern scientific research. Medical scientists provide complex data from biological systems, clinical trials, genomics, imaging, and more. Computer scientists develop algorithms, build models, and design software systems that can process, analyze, and derive meaningful insights from this data. The computers must be trained through artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data science so they can assist in diagnostics, treatment planning, drug discovery, and personalized medicine.
