If life were a bingo card, I’d be really close to winning one of the saddest rounds in history. Orphaned at a young age? Check. Plopped into a small town where gossip flowed easier than water down the Mississippi River? Check. Primary target of Bellevue’s cruelest bullies, who branded me the town witch? Checkity-check, check. Okay, so technically the last bit was true—but no one knew that. But of all the squares that could have been called, having one of my tormentors ask me out on a date sure as hell wasn’t one I’d ever thought I’d cross off. Taylor Hallows left our tiny town twelve years ago and seemingly never looked back. But now that he’s returned, I can’t seem to avoid him. He’s everywhere I look. The bar, the grocery store—even my own shop. He’s like a weed that refuses to go away. I don’t want him there, but I also find myself constantly looking for him. He’s charming and sweet and seems so genuine. An annoyingly beautiful, bespectacled, six-foot contradiction to the smug kid I knew in high school. Despite all signs pointing to a new and improved Taylor, the hurt little girl in the back of my mind reminds me of how he used to be. His relentless determination to earn a second chance has me wondering—does time really heal all wounds, or will letting him in be the worst mistake this witch ever makes?
