BASS RECORDER SONG BOOK

Early in 2024 I took up the Bass Recorder and, to learn that instrument most pleasantly, decided to play some of my favorite melodies. Shortly, I realized that instrument’s limitation and found myself transposing and arrange these melodies into keys that would illustrate that instrument’s best advantage. However, just transposing these pieces into effective ‘Bass Recorder’ keys appeared the first step- for I found necessary to also make arrangements and transcriptions, thus creating a ‘tailor made’ oeuvre of most effective and suitable pieces. It is these transcriptions that are herein presented. In assembling this collection, I have transposed many of the songs into keys that would emphasize the lower note of the bass recorder and in instances, modified them to fit the range and abilities of that instrument. All have emerged from a variety of sources; several are original compositions, others arrangements of known music (both classical and popular). I have also included many old and obscure numbers which, because its sheet music was no longer available, I have taken directly off the old 78 rpm recording in my collection. All I feel are tuneful and a delight to play!
