Tyrone:The Barber of Biloxi is the autobiography of Tyrone Burton, owner of Tyrone's Barber and Beauty Salon in Biloxi, Mississippi. Tyrone's, founded in 1964, is one of the oldest African American owned businesses along the Mississippi Gulf Coast. Located on Main Street in the historic Black business district of East Biloxi, Tyrone's was first established to serve Black servicemen stationed at Keesler Air Force Base. For more than six decades Tyrone's has served as a place where Black men could get more than just a haircut. This book is a look into the life and legacy of one of Mississippi's greatest citizens.
