You catch glimpses of it all over the country, little clues, most not so subtle, of what life would be like in the United States under permanent minority rule. The Presidency, both houses of Congress, and the Supreme Court captured by a Republican Party gone off the rails. Misogyny, racism, intolerance and cruelty to everyone but the rich being the goal of most legislation. What would you do if you had nothing left to lose? Protest? Engage in civil disobedience? Destroy infrastructure? Shoot tyrants? That’s the premise behind my novel Insurgency. Everyday Americans pushed to the breaking point by legislation targeting their sexuality, their autonomy, even their very means of living. Some will say “enough is enough” and risk their lives to restore Democracy in a land run by a fascist dictator and his minions. The actions these brave people take don’t go unnoticed by the government, who will spare no expense to find and punish them. Who will ultimately win, Democracy or Fascism?
