The Captain's Madam: It Was Strictly Survival... Nothing More, Nothing Less

I am Norma Ashby. I was a young struggling single mother, who wanted to gift her only daughter with the opportunities afforded by a household usually supported by a man’s increased salary. I became a successful young call girl, a business entrepreneur, an activist regarding women’s rights, wife to three men, and an accomplished, discreet, well-known madam of a brothel nestled in the exclusive hills, “South of the Boulevard” on Dixie Canyon Avenue in the Los Angeles suburb known as Sherman Oaks. So began my extensive life in two realities; the girl next door and the “femme fatale” that I have come to refer to as the “Golden Era” of the 1960’s classy, “high dollar” call girl prostitute. I became a call girl out of necessity, not by desire, which you will learn as my story unfolds.
