Chainsaw Clutch Cover Installation:
1.Allow the engine to cool completely and disconnect the spark plug wire before beginning. Wear protective gloves.
2.Using a wrench, remove the nuts from the crossbar mounting bolts.
3.Turn the chain tensioner screw counterclockwise to release tension, then remove the clutch cover assembly.
4.Install the new clutch cover, applying firm, even pressure to ensure proper seating.
5.Insert a long screwdriver into the tensioner screw and turn until you hear a click - indicating the adjusting pin has engaged with the tie rod hole.
6.Turn the screw clockwise to tighten the chain until snug but not overtightened.
7.Hand-tighten the bar nut (do not fully torque at this stage).
8.Lift the guide bar tip - the chain should not sag. If needed, make small clockwise adjustments to the tensioner screw.
9.When proper tension is achieved, fully tighten the bar nut.
10.Test chain movement - it should glide smoothly without binding or slack.
Note:
Recheck tension after 5-10 minutes of operation as new chains may stretch when warm.
