About this item

The Texas Legacy of Don Pedro Huizar 1772-1804

Spanish Colonial Historical Narrative-Pedro Huizar was one of several skilled artisans that made San Antonio de Bejar his home during the 18th century. For more than three decades Pedro worked to provide for his family, while simultaneously contributing to the growth and development of La Villa de San Fernando and the five San Antonio River missions. The location, history, cultural traditions and the people of varied backgrounds who made this "River City" home in the 1700's, transformed the small villa and the picturesque river missions. Don Pedro Huizar left his legacy, his descendants, and his footprint upon this unique city by the river which today bears the name, "San Antonio de Bexar."
