The Last Drop

Artifacts and jewels, originally taken in barter by Baltic traders from Russian revolutionaries, were hidden in 1945 from the Nazis and the advancing Russian armies by the owner of a shipyard in Rostock. He sends his grandson Heinz and his niece Krista covertly to Sweden so they can escape the wrath of the advancing Russians. A Norwegian partisan and a boy, Sven, the only survivors of an attack on a German convoy, trek over the mountains into Sweden. Heinz and Sven meet on a ship bound for Dakar, Senegal. Pretending to be Polish and naming Heinz Harry, Krista takes the boys to Salford, England, where when youths they work for the communist party union organizers in the docks. Harry becomes a minor criminal, Sven joins the army and achieves the rank of Major. Later in life as the USSR crumbles they search for the treasure in Rostock, an adventure that takes them to Norway, Russia, and Senegal.
