One could say that ants are and have long been nature's silent rulers; they've invented war, chemistry, herding, farming, raiding, and even graveyards, long before we did. For millions of years, they've coexisted with humanity. Luckily, they were small and not a threat. But in the new world that Zach and Jordana find themselves in, the ants have grown to monstrous proportions, and now they are a 'definite' threat. Humanity is no longer in control and teeters on the edge of extinction. Now stranded a year in the past, questions abound: Are Zach and Jordana responsible for the desolation that has befallen Earth ? Should the blame be placed on the cookies that interfered with the experiment? Or, perhaps, if, according to some, the rapture happened, could the giant ants be the harbingers of the apocalypse? In their quest for survival, Zach and Jordana must cross a broken America, navigate the landscapes teeming with giant, dangerous ants, and find their way back home. That is, if home even exists anymore. Saving the world? That's just a distant bonus... But for now, survival is the only thing that matters. "The Cretaceous Human(ts) Extinction: When the Ants Took Over" is a post-apocalyptic survival thriller with horror elements, and a touch of mystery. This book was created by a passionate ant keeper and is a love letter to the marvelous possibilities within the natural world. In "The Cretaceous Human(ts) Extinction" Louis-Olivier St-Pierre delivers the unexpected journey of Zach Mississauga and Jordana Noland to fix what they have broken: the entire world. It started from an event so insignificant that it's difficult for the two to believe that the world is now overrun by giant dangerous ants. The vivid descriptions, fast-paced scenes, and believable setting, make this novel a page turner true to the genre. The gripping narrative allows us to understand first-hand what humans might experience if such an event would take place and left the civilization in ruins and the remaining humans fighting to survive. St-Pierre does an excellent job exploring what the psychological and physical implications and struggles of such run-for-survival might be. With a well-balanced pacing, the story unfolds under our eyes and we get a glimpse of optimism that things will turn out well in the end, despite the terrifying yet mesmerizing appearances of the giant ants. St-Pierre's ability to combine the thrills of ant-chasing with the hope that the world can be fixed makes this novel a must-read for the fans of the genre. You might think "An apocalyptic world led by ants?" Why not? It's impossible not to like this book even if you are not into the apocalyptic genre or an ant enthusiast. It's really that well-written. Enjoy the reading. It's a memorable one. Alice Creswell - Indie Author When I began antkeeping in 2020, I rediscovered my passion for insects. I was struck by just how little media I could find about ants. I joked that I should write a book about ants, a sci-fi story about giant ones. Well, after putting down the first line, the rest of the book followed. I was inspired by the community I am surrounded by. Most ant keepers I've met are incredible people, and I've taken the opportunity to cameo some of them in the book. This was my opportunity to give back to the community and to everyone else's. You don't need to love ants to like this novel, you just need to want to see something uncommon at best :) I hope you all like it! -Lost "You have too much imagination" was a common scolding phrase that Louis heard throughout his childhood. Writing assignments about a vineyard became a battleground between ghosts and grape elementals. One of his only outlets for years was discovering the work of numerous science fiction authors who shaped his view of storytelling, Favorite among those include Jack Vance, A. E. van Vogt and Clifford D. Simak. Most of his hobbies gravitate around his curiosity, creativity, and lust for trying and learning new things. They include tabletop RPGs, video games, antkeeping, cooking, and entomology. He also has a motto he tries to live by: People have enough problems in their lives; try not to be one of them.
