Stepping Out Like Lazarus: The Secret to Overcoming Anything

The apostle Paul struggled with a “thorn in the flesh” (1 Corinthians 12:7-8). We don’t know what it was, but we can all identify with his despair. All of us struggle with something. Like him, we may have begged God repeatedly to take it away. It could be something as serious as an addiction to drugs, alcohol or sex. It could be something less serious like an addiction to food, video games or to another person. It could even be something not even considered an idol like an addiction to good grades, sports or the boss’s approval, etc. No matter what our “thorn in the flesh” may be, Stepping Out Like Lazarus will help us overcome it.
