Using this workbook, you will be introduced to, or better understand, core wounds and how they relate to you. You will learn how to determine which core wounds you have, and you will learn how to reprogram them, because just as they were programed into you, you can change your relationship to them. Maybe as a child, you had a dismissive or overly critical caregiver, and as an adult, you feel you have to earn love and overcompensate to measure up, showing an "I am unloved" wound. Maybe you moved a lot growing up, changing schools, and feeling as though you had no control, and now you showcase controlling habits so you have power over people and your environment that you felt you didn't before, alluding to "I am powerless". Or maybe you were abandoned by a caregiver, whether they left or passed away, or a caregiver constantly or traumatically broke your trust, and as an adult you are suspicious, maybe feeling the need to check your partner's story, or worrying they may leave you, or you fear closeness and sabotage relationships perceiving it as your protection, as if thinking "I will be betrayed". Though negative, the wounds that you carry will feel familiar, so you will find that you reenact them toward yourself. Becoming aware of your wounds is a huge step forward. Even better is working on them. In this workbook, each core wound has its own exercise tailored for it, though you may find it beneficial to use one wound's exercise for another wound as well. There are 17 additional exercises for any wound, whether for identifying which you have or healing wounds.
