Anxiety High Volume 1: There is Nothing Wrong with You! is the first book in the Anxiety High Series. The Anxiety High books are works of fiction written for introverted teens. In the books, Jane Piety Academy has a reputation for being very challenging both academically and socially. So much so, that the students, parents, and teachers often refer to the school as ‘Anxiety High’. Each volume of the Anxiety High Series follows a Jane Piety student through a week where they learn how to be authentically happy and successful as an introvert, while simultaneously championing cultural change so people of all personality types feel like they belong. “I can’t hear you Silent River!” shouted someone from the back of the crowd. Nyles couldn’t tell who had heckled him. The statement caused the crowd to laugh. Nyles’s heart beat faster… “What is wrong with you dude?!?” yelled another person from the same general area as the first. “Indeed, what is wrong with me?” thought Nyles. Nyles River is a typical high school student at Jane Piety Academy, or Anxiety High as the students refer to it. He often struggles to feel like he belongs and wonders what is wrong with himself as an introverted teen in a world that favors extroverted behaviors. This week will be especially hard as Nyles struggles to belong in history, deals with his new nickname “Silent River,” and works through the anxiety of having to deliver a speech to the entire student body.
