Pop Smoke: A Memoir of Family and Courage explores the navigation of life through the lens of a young girl, sibling, daughter, mother and a combat soldier while fully embarking upon the strength of familial ties; a bittersweet nostalgia over the "old house" that raised her; complicated admiration and disappointment in family; her yearning for an artistic passion of her own; and her boredom that escalated to anxiety, and fear during her Army years. Tisha is finally ready to say goodbye to it all and pop smoke. T.S. Arther is a nonfiction writer who is half nerd and half gangster born and raised on the Northside of Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She graduated with an MA in Creative Writing from Saint Leo University. Arther is an Army Veteran currently residing in Newport News, Virginia. She is married to a funny cable guy and has four boys that literally eat, sleep, and play video games. She's bald but loves all things hair. Arther is a Master Hair Stylist for the stars in her own head. When Arther is not writing or slaying heads, she enjoys traveling with family, crocheting, and cosplay.
