This booklet is about the paternal line of our Coomes family as far back as we can reliably trace. It begins with our sons - Benjamin Stacy Coomes and William Westbrook Coomes - and extends eleven generations to Richard Coombs, believed to be born around 1653 in Stratford, England. Since Ben and Meg have two wonderful children, we can say this actually covers twelve generations. We are looking back some 370 years. This is the story of that family line, following their movements from Maryland to Harrodsburg to Bardstown, to Owensboro and Knottsville, and then Louisville.
