You must place the numbers 1-9 once in each row, column and 3x3 bold-lined box that compose each of the five overlapping sudoku grids that form each puzzle. There are a variety of grid styles and patterns inside the book. Wherever you see a coloured region of nine squares, it also needs to contain the numbers 1-9 once only. Depending on the grid pattern, these could be jigsaw-style regions, regions in an 'X' shape, or perhaps regions in the forms of letters or extra regions. One of the styles of extra regions is not continuous: look at the bottom-right grid in puzzle one. Instead, with this variation, in addition to standard rules, you must place the numbers 1-9 once each in the nine positions of each of the 3x3 boxes, as indicated by the coloured squares. For instance, the nine yellow squares in that grid should each contain 1-9 in some order, as should the pink squares, the orange squares, and so on.
