If he fails, it’s not just his daughter’s life at stake, but hundreds of innocent people will be nothing more than a cloud of irradiated dust. Ignition in T minus 36 hours… Author’s Note I recently read a book by Arthur C. Clarke, The City and the Stars, and discovered that it was an extensive revision of his first novel, Against the Fall of Night. Apparently, he revisited the book several years after becoming an accomplished sci-fi author and realized that he had improved considerably as a writer in the intervening period. This got me thinking, and I soon found myself revisiting my very first novel, Fusion (later split into Reaction & Extraction ), having written twelve other books since then. I’ve always enjoyed the characters, they have a special place in my heart, and so I took great pleasure in revisiting their story and giving them the book they truly deserve. Some scenes have been removed and new additions have been written. What’s more, every sentence and ever paragraph in the novel has been gone over with a fine-toothed comb and honed to the best of my story telling ability. In the end, while it’s still essentially the same story, I feel it’s now the technothriller I had always wanted to write all those years ago, but just couldn’t quite get there. Enjoy!
