Scroll up and click “Add to Cart” right now. I started gardening as soon as I could walk, and I can't imagine life without having a garden. My first job was working on a farm, and it's my goal to one day retire to farm life. I have been a proponent of natural, organic home-gardening for as long as I can remember. In fact, my love of gardening led me to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Environmental Studies from Brown University in 1978. I teach gardening and life skills classes through a homeschool network today. It's the perfect opportunity to share my passion for eating healthy and growing delicious food at home with kids born in the 21st century.   I started teaching about gardening by helping my family and neighbors with their gardens. I learned that I love talking about gardening, hearing people's experiences, and sharing my own passion and knowledge. I've learned many valuable things over the years, and the learning never stops.    Teaching our children how to grow food is a vital step toward teaching other meaningful life skills. The knowledge to feed yourself and your family with clean, organic produce opens up a world of self-reliance and confidence. Growing a garden is one of the best ways to provide your children with real-life experiences they can use forever. I have seen many children who started out uninterested over the years but became some of the most eager participants when it came time to tend the garden. They could see the garden growing every day, and it became an exciting game to keep an eye on the sprouting plants. Plus, who doesn't like playing in the dirt?   One of my favorite young students absolutely hated Brussels sprouts. I have no idea what possessed this young student to plant Brussels sprouts, but I can tell you that they soon became a favorite vegetable. Maybe it was something about seeing the way the little heads grew, or maybe they just taste better when you grow them yourself, I can't say, but what I got to see was a young gardener grow as fast as those Brussels sprouts!   Gardening can become more than just an educational experience or a way to find relaxation. You may be surprised when you discover how many of your neighbors have small gardens. I've seen many great friendships blossom between neighbors who were strangers until the tomato plant grew over the fence and shared its plentiful bounty. Gardening can be a great way to meet people and share fresh, organic, homegrown produce.   As different as we all seem from one another some days, we are also more alike than we often acknowledge. I like to think that gardening can be a way to bridge many divides we have in our lives, and in the process, help us all find happiness, peace, a little sun on our faces, and a full belly.    I hope this book will inspire you to start gardening at home. It isn't as difficult as it seems,
