But as signals get into the Gigahertz, things get strange; small periodicities in the cable become more and more important to control, impedance stability becomes even more critical, and the things that didn't matter at standard definition can become huge problems. Even the BNC connectors can throw a wrench into the whole affair, if they have not been designed for 12G SDI. Here we use Belden's new 4505R 12G SDI cable stock, together with Belden's unique one-piece compression 12G BNC, for an all-Belden assembly. We cut and terminate these in our Seattle shop using precision stripping equipment and high-pressure pneumatic presses for the best dimensional consistency and mechanical and electrical soundness.
