Gaea's Blessing Seeds - Bitter Melon Seeds - Bitter Gourd Heirloom Non-GMO Bittermelon Seeds with Easy to Follow Planting Instructions - 92%

Momordica charantia - Non-GMO, Heirloom, Open-Pollinated An Asian staple, commonly used in all sorts of dishes from stews, stir fries, curry, pickled, among others! Grows to 3" diameter, and 11" long, bittermelons grow to about 1 pound! The bitter flavor may be an acquired taste but it is absolutely delectable for many who have come to love the crisp flavor! Gaea’s Blessing is based in Austin, Texas. We are committed to promoting sustainable growing methods, to protect the biodiversity of our planet, to do our best to ensure the wellness of the environment, and above all, to ensure your satisfaction. As adopters of the Safe Seed Pledge, we do not consciously buy or sell seeds that have been genetically modified. Bittermelon is an Asian staple that is packed full of nutrition! Commonly found used in East/Southeast/South Asian cuisine with origins in Africa. Produces large, cylindrical, glossy green fruit that grows up to 3" in diameter and approximately 11" long. Each gourd weighs about one pound. Bitter melon can be stewed, curried, steamed, braised, pickled or cooked with scrambled eggs. Cooking tempers the bitterness, as does serving it with yogurt on the side. It's not for everyone, but many people who try bitter melon for the first time love the flavor - we certainly love it! It is rich in iron, contains twice the beta-carotene of broccoli, twice the calcium of spinach, and twice the potassium of banana. Additionally, try it in stir fries, soups, dim sum, and herbal teas. Bitter melon thrives in heat and humidity but is very cold sensitive, so do not start seeds until after all chance of frost has passed! Be careful not to eat the seeds as they are not edible!
