Kafia (which translates to “sufficient”) is one of the classical works written about Nahw by Imam Ibn ul Hajib. Using around 7000 words only, the author has concisely laid out all the rules of Nahw in this book. Through his brief, yet comprehensive writing style, the readers will be able to understand the author’s point. This book has been a reference point in Nahw for many centuries and has been taught in many different universities of the world. As the name suggests, this book will be “sufficient” for a student to master his skills in Nahw. Serving as an encyclopedia of Nahw, Kafia was translated and explained by many scholars into their respective languages. However, even after around 800 years of Kafia, it was neither translated nor explained in the English language. Therefore, to fulfill this need, we took onto the task of translating and explaining it for the students of Arabic language all around the world.
