From Mark’s website: Mark was involved in programs that were sponsored by the local police department, and he started in the boxing program when he was 11 years old. He enjoyed boxing and was pretty good at it. The police told Mark that if he wanted to continue to box, he had to stay out of trouble. He stayed out of trouble and boxed throughout his teen-age years. Mark graduated high school in 1984 and left home for the Army two weeks after graduation. Mark became an Army boxer, All-Army boxing champion and Armed Forces boxing champion.
