“I wonder if every small town is as interesting as ours.” It was the type of existential question that Troy Turner and his circle of friends had begun to ponder—replacing the trivial interests of baseball cards and video games. Now entering the summer before 8th grade, Troy discovers that his buddies are no longer interested in the simple pleasures of childhood mischief. Instead, they’ve found something much more alluring; alcohol, drugs and scariest of all—girls. Troy’s idyllic small town existence becomes threatened as he tries to balance the looming presence of a testy father also on summer break, the pressures of teenage party culture, and examine his anxieties towards the opposite sex, all while becoming aware that the park culture he'd come to love, much like his innocence, may soon be lost forever.
