Over thirty years ago, on April 7, 1989, the Soviet nuclear submarine Komsomolets caught on fire and burned out of control for hours. After a long and valiant effort to save the boat, the crew abandoned ship and watched as their submarine sank beneath the waves of the Norwegian Sea. Rescue craft eventually arrived, but too late for many of the sailors. This is the story of the gruesome end of the Komsomolets.
