Original Student Monologues: Auditions, Competitions, Festivals, and Class

As part of being an acting instructor, it's my job to find material that really fits my students. Over the years, I've noticed that it has become increasingly difficult to find monologues and scenes that are appropriate, have a good storyline, or fit my student's personalities. So, I decided to start writing original material from ideas discussed during lessons. Since then, we have seen an increase in scores and projects booked from these monologues. I decided that if I was having trouble finding monologues for my students, imagine what it's like for students who are on their own looking for material. This is why I think it was important to publish a chunk of the material that has been so successful for my students.
