Beads are typically strung on cotton, or raffia as shown in photo. Many designs of Krobo beads are patterned to resemble old Venetian FANCY trade beads. Made from bottles and other glass items that are turned into powder, then poured into molds in order to create these round shaped beads. Decorations on the beads are made with a paste made of colored glass powder and water which is applied by hand using a thin wooden stalk. The beads are cooked a second time to fix the decor. Each bead is unique and will measure approximately 22-30 x 10-12mm. Strand may vary slightly from picture. Please note: a large majority of The Bead Chest products are handmade.
