When you taste Tie Guan Yin for the first time it is hard to believe the flavor is natural. In fact, some lesser quality teas have been known to put chemicals on their Tie Guan Yin’s to enhance the creamy flavor they are famous for. The good news for you is that we don’t even use chemicals in our packaging, let alone in our teas. Instead, we found a small farm where the farmers go through eight different steps to provide a top notch tea. The result is a tea that is better than any chemically “enhanced” tea you will find.

Tasting Notes
When you first take a sip you are hit with bright floral notes and a fine, creamy sweetness like buttered white toast. This is a light tea with notes of natural sweetness that lingers for minutes after your first sip. A fantastic value, Tie Guan Yin is comparable with teas that cost twice as much. Some would even say that it tastes better.

Sourcing
Our Tie Guan Yin is a mountain grown tea from the Fujian Province in China. The farm is nestled in a remote location between mountains, which provides it protection from pollution harmful chemicals that other farms may use. This particular farm uses only organic fertilizer that does not have any dangerous chemicals.

Our Tie Guan Yin is harvested in late May when the tea leaves are a bit larger with a fuller flavor. After plucking, the tea is withered in the sun for 30 minutes and then bruised and brought inside to rest for six hours. The tea leaves are then hand rolled into small pellet-sized balls and finished in an electric oven to ensure a pure, sweet flavor.
