The weekly ritual of Havdalah following the conclusion of shabbat can only be completed by awakening our senses and returning into the physical world from the holiness of Shabbat, therefore the smelling of besamim / spices are an integral part of this ritual.

The spice bag is made of cream-colored raw silk with a drawstring closure and is embroidered with a scattering of pomegranates and leaves and the words Shavua Tov (A Good Week) in Hebrew.
