These cards are standard Montessori teaching materials (in the 3-6 and 6-12 classrooms) that present external anatomy in a powerful way: by isolating each key part in full color while the rest of the animal (the insect, a class of arthropods/invertebrates) is shown in muted shades of gray. This red ant shows the whole ant and its head, jaws, antennae, eyes, legs, thorax, and abdomen. 8 control cards, 8 matching picture cards, and 8 word cards; 24 cards total. These cards come in a 3-part format, a wonderful literacy-building teaching material. Use the photo-only card as flash cards in vocabulary lessons. Use all 3-parts with children who are beginning to read single words. Children read the separate word label, match it to the picture, and then check their own work with the labeled cards. This makes it possible for beginning readers to practice reading anytime, without help.
