This is the raw and vivid journal of a 25-year-old nurse stationed 10 miles outside the front lines of Mosul, in 2017. While a war raged between government and ISIS forces over the city, she and the relief team stood by to aid the wounded and dying which arrived to their field hospital. Every day was unpredictable as the team treated victims of drone attacks, suicide bombings, landmines, snipers, and even ISIS members themselves. After each day, the nurse would return to her bunkhouse and unload in writing, while bomb explosions shook the walls around her. Live or die, there was a message that needed to be shared.
