About this item

Pebble and Pearls: First principle and parting words (Rhyme and Murmur)

This book is a collection of a person's thinking journey over the past decades. With the benefit of retrospect, I look back at the years including 2020 and found clarity. It has become obvious that three things will never be the same again. The first change is where and how people work. The place for works has gone from the office space to home, on a kitchen table, or a desk next to the piano in the living room. Anywhere and everywhere there is a flat surface, you can jot down your thoughts on a ream of paper, or type into the keyboard of a laptop. The line between living and working has blurred. In any corner of the planet, work space and living space has overlapped and later become one. The second change is the reassessment of the nature and value of material success. Digital and analog money seeks new roles in our lives that are constantly churning and seeking new directions. There is a clearer and broader sense by which one measures material success and career progress. Wage and compensation from work, although essential to sustaining our day-to-day existence, provide nothing more to sustain our thirst for life’s ultimate meaning. The last change is the prominent rise of digital technology that plays ever-increasing role in communicating with colleagues, friends and family members. Digital communication has become the lifeblood of any meaningful connection to the outside world. We have reached the point where it's unimaginable to live without cable connections. The monthly cable bills to becoming very essential part of the cost of living. The Pandemic that started in 2019 has changed the way we look at the relationship between personal choices and the struggle of countries. The next few decades that will define the new world we live invite will define the relationship between individuals at local, national, and global levels. In light of the latest development in today’s chaotic, fast-changing world, it is my sincerest hope that the writing can shed light on how to prepare ourselves, for what’s coming down the pike, in the days and years ahead. The path forward is clear: as individuals we must adapt to the shifting winds and look after our own affairs. With eyes wide open, we need to protect and develop healthy, functional brains. While the answers are murky in time of change, I believe we can remain hopeful against the mounting fear and despair.
