Take a walk through time to 1955 Halifax and follow the local constabulary as they investigate the murder of Michael Leo Resk. Resk was, by all accounts, a gentle, kind soul without any known enemies. Be there with the detectives as they run down every lead and follow up on every tip. Feel their frustration as they hit one dead end after another. Who wanted Resk dead? Was he murdered by family, a business associate, a disgruntled customer at his grocery, or an unhappy tenant in one of his flats? Or did he meet his end at the hands of a stranger? Could there be other forces at work? When it looks like at least one police officer and one city official are involved in the crime, the detectives must investigate without raising anyone’s suspicions. Who could they trust? As well, Ted, an unusual tipster, keeps the detectives busy. Discovering Ted’s identity takes on a life of its own for one detective.
