About this item

Sapien: Dawn of Oblivion

The yet to be integrated Sapien solar system is on the verge of major economic, political, and social change. In an attempt to unite the nine autonomous planets—seven of which are ethnically pure—the Supreme council encounters all types of obstacles seen and unforeseen. Each of the triumvirate of politicians aligns himself with a faction of the underworld he hires to push his own personal agenda. Vice Chancellor Theris Lamont, the most conscience obedient of the politicians, is forced to enlist the services of the crew of the Starship Whisper, a band of capable smugglers and mercenaries. Led by their captain, Mulati Soldaat, they embark on a mission that Theris hopes will bring harmony and unity to humans. Along the way, they encounter Francois Larue, a rogue member of the notorious DOD gang. After betraying the DOD, Francois must conceal his past affiliation with the gang as he tries to assimilate into his new environment with the tight-knit crew of the Whisper. Mulati must balance duty and unit cohesion while he obeys his conscience. Add the fact that he is part of the less than one percent of the solar system who is of mixed ethnicity, and the challenges abound. Inevitably, all sides collide, and the Sapien solar system is caught in the middle. On the precipice of oblivion, what unfolds is a tale of murder, greed, deception, betrayal, and darkness. If you are a fan of Star Wars and Firefly, you will love this series. T. O. Burnett is in many ways a typical inner city man. Having moved to the southeast section of Washington, D. C. by the age of one with his single mother, he spent his adolescent years in the school of hard knocks as he grew up there in the Barry Farms community. Like every other child his age, he loved sports, girls, and Kung fu flicks. Despite not having much, he managed to excel academically very early on. Always inquisitive, T. O. quenched his thirst for knowledge through school and public television. He also prided himself with acquiring trivial knowledge of a multitude of subjects which came from a vast array of sources. After moving further south to rural Alabama to start high school, T. O. began to explore and develop his writing which came naturally to him. His literary skills and overall writing talent were cultivated by his father who was a respected educator and dedicated public servant. A tour in the United States Marine Corps as a machine gunner, some college, a few odd jobs, and a career in law enforcement helped to develop what T. O. himself considers to be a well rounded personality. T. O. has never been married and does not have children. He endeavors to unplug from the rat race by becoming a full time writer.
