Dr. Rivers received several leadership awards and recognitions including: Robert Wood Johnson 3-Year Nurse Executive Fellowship; Nurse Administrator of the Year from the Florida Nurses Association, the Florida Organization of Nurse Executives, and the National Black Nurses Association; and recognition for leadership excellence from the American Association of Critical-care Nurses. Dr. Rivers was inducted into the National Black Nurses Association's Institute of Excellence and is also a Distinguished Practitioner in the National Academy of Practice.
