He has worked for the Seguin Gazette, Arlington Citizen-Journal, and Corpus Christi Caller-Times newspapers. He has won seven awards for news and feature writing from the Texas School Public Relations Association and has worked as a public relations professional in education and corporate circles. A native of Seguin, Texas, Lozano is a graduate of Seguin High School, where he was editor-in-chief of the school newspaper. He holds a bachelor of journalism degree from the University of Texas at Austin, where he received the Stuart M. Long Memorial Scholarship in journalism.
