(Children's picture book) Born blind and rejected by her mother, Dillie the Deer was saved by the kindness of another deer, the farmer, and a veterinarian. Dillie the moved into the doctor and her husband's home and hearts, quickly becoming a cherished member of their unusual family. She played in the yard with the other pets, swam in the pool, and slept in bed with her family. After winning a contest, Dillie became an international celebrity spreading joy and happiness to people all over the world. Beautifully told in stunning art by illustrator Marjorie Geist, Dillie's inspiring true story shows how her little life became a wondrous gift for the entire world, and how every life makes a difference. Dr. Melanie Butera graduated from The Ohio State College of Veterinary Medicine in 1985. She has witnessed firsthand for three decades the impact animals make in our lives. She is co-author, with Diane Reverand, of the book "Dillie the Deer: a True Story of Love, Healing, and Family" (Regan Arts, 2015). Marjorie Jean Geist (Illustrator) received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in painting from Barat College/ DePaul in Lake Forest, Illinois. She and her husband Kevin live in Chicago.
