About this item

My Best Friend, Abe Lincoln: A Tale of Two Boys from Indiana

In 1820, Sam Harding and Abe Lincoln forged a strong friendship based on their love of learning and the outdoors. This timeless story is about the special bond between the two boys, the experiences they shared growing up in early America, and how one of them eventually became the sixteenth President of the United States. The illustrator of this children's book, John W. Ewing, was an animation artist at Disney Studios in Burbank from 1956 to 1967 where he helped craft classic feature films such as Sleeping Beauty, One Hundred and One Dalmatians, The Jungle Book, The Sword in the Stone, and Winnie the Pooh and the Honey Tree. After Disney, Ewing went to New Zealand and launched Freelance Animators Ltd., carrying out contract work for Disney and Warner Bros. "A delightful tale for youngsters and their parents and grandparents, too - reminding us of Abraham Lincoln's roots in pioneer America, a story that still inspires." ~ Harold Holzer, Abraham Lincoln Scholar "This book is lively, accessible, full of historical information, and beautifully illustrated. I should think it would motivate many a young reader to take note of the Indiana farm boy who became President of the United States, and that is an enviable accomplishment." ~ Douglas L. Wilson, Abraham Lincoln Scholar "The book is the perfect introduction to American history for young children, and great storytelling. The illustrations, by a former animation artist at the Walt Disney Studios, bring this story to life." ~ Todd Rutherford, AskThePublishingGuru. com My Best Friend, Abe Lincoln is bound to help make the gift of America's 16th President more accessible to young readers of today." ~ Midwest Book Review "The author depicts a boyhood friendship that entertains and educates young children about one of our most famous and beloved Presidents. It's a testament to the impact of childhood relationships and the transformative journey from humble beginnings to historic greatness." ~ Kid's Picture Book Reviews "In the vast expanse of literature, some stories resonate beyond their pages, transcending time and place.
