Hillgregg is a series of books inspired by the imagination of a young man's backyard. The world in which he lives comes to life in a different dimension through the story of Hillgregg. Different features of his backyard landscape take on the lands with the world of Hillgregg. The adventure takes place on Voulkar. A world parallel to ours. Not at all like our world. It is a place dominated by nature and wildlife except for a small nation known as Naxece. In this world's past, it was home to other species of intelligent life. Life, thought to be extinct. Our story takes place in Hillgreg, a city in Naxece. Rike Pathis lives an ordinary life as a crystal harvester working with his three friends, Jirkir, Adria and Krill. Their relationship is humorous at times, touching and adversarial. A great mix of characters that keep the story interesting. This small group is about to set off on a path that could change the fate of Naxece and their existence forever. This group of misfits face their hardest challenges to survive and save the world they know. In this series, a destructive force has mysteriously returned from the dead. Rike and his companions strive to beat the odds of a much greater force than themselves. The unusual cast of characters takes one from laughter to compassion through their unique relationships. In a unusual twist this group of misfits is their worlds only hope. Mark Harrison Haile Merk was born in Louisville Kentucky to Tina Cooper Haile Merk and David Haile. Mark was a miracle baby. His father was paralyzed from the waist down since he was 16. When Mark was 5 his father died from an accidental fall from his wheel chair. Mark was raised by his single parent, Tina, till he was 9 years old. His mother Tina remarried when Mark was nine to John P. Merk. Shortly after the marriage John legally adopted Mark. John had previously been married and had boy/girl twins Mark's age. Mark was happy becoming almost a triplet. Mark has always been a very bright young man with a vivid imagination. He is an A student and is currently enrolled as a Junior at Floyd Central High School. He enjoys running for fun and basketball with his friends at the park. He is an accomplished and noted actor within his school. He likes to be the funny guy in a group and keeps things lively. Mark is just an average teenager who enjoys the outdoors, swimming, watching movies, TV, quiet time alone and playing video games.
