The DVD for Partnering for Content Literacy: PRC2 in Action. Developing Academic Language for All Learners provides models and resources to aid teachers in engaging in PRC2. This DVD provides the same material as the DVD that comes with the printed book and is an important component of the author’s message. It includes a video of students engaged in PRC2 in urban classrooms, as well as an example of a content unit developed to support teachers in orchestrating the many components of academic content reading and learning. The unit is a model teachers can adapt to their own content and students. Finally, included are templates for vocabulary activities and directions for using an Excel spreadsheet to create these engaging reinforcement activities. Here’s what makes this DVD unique: Content Unit Guide: Nonfiction Leveled Text Set on Native Americans These text sets, books, and articles at varying reading levels on a common topic, are provided to motivate students to read strategically, increase their academic vocabulary and deepen their content knowledge. The teaching suggestions are designed so that teachers can help students practice needed reading comprehension and vocabulary skills in content materials at their instructional levels. We are providing a way of linking content reading with best practice methodology. Excel ® Vocabulary Games Four Excel ® games are provided to accompany chapter 12. Video: Advanced Literacy for Learning (ALL) This 11-minute video provides an introduction to the process of Partner Reading & Content Too (PRC2) and establishes the 8 steps in the process. Donna Ogle is Professor of Reading and Language at National-Louis University (NLU) in Chicago, Illinois, and is active in research and professional development projects. She is currently senior consultant to the Chicago Striving Readers Project; Co-Director of the Reading Leadership Institute; and Co-Director of the Literacy Partners Project, a collaboration among the Chicago Public Schools, NLU, and the Chicago Community Trust. Donna also serves as a literacy consultant internationally, including with Critical Thinking International and Grupo SM in Latin America. She is on the editorial review boards of Lectura y Vida , The Reading Teacher , and the Journal of Adolescent and Adult Literacy . Donna is a past president of the International Reading Association and an elected member of the Reading Hall of Fame. She also conducts research on visual literacy and content comprehension, having developed both the K-W-L and PRC2 (Partner Reading and Content, Too) frameworks.
